    Mr. Darrell Wayne Martin, Sr., age 80, a resident of Washington, NC died Wednesday April 24, 2019 at his home.

    A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday April 26, 2019 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor Steve Evans. Burial will follow in the Tetterton Family Cemetery located in the Hunter's Bridge community of Pinetown. John Smith, Jason Martin, Michael Martin, Danny Boyd, David Smith and Caleb Martin will serve as pallbearers.

    The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour Friday at the funeral home.

    Mr. Martin was born on August 24, 1938 in Allen County Ohio, son of the late Oliver Martin and the late Leona Myrtle Hardesty Martin. He was a 1956 graduate of Elida High School in Ohio. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On June 20, 1961 he married the former Ann Elizabeth Tetterton who survives. Mr. Martin continued his education at Northeastern Bible College majoring in Theology. Later he earned his associates degree in electrical engineering at Beaufort County Community College. He retired from Beaufort County Hospital as a plant manager in maintenance after thirty-seven years of service. Mr. Martin's faith in his Lord and Savior was very important to him and he was a very active and faithful member of Washington Assembly of God for fifty-five years.

    Surviving along with Mr. Martin's wife Ann of the home are his children: Darrell W. Martin, Jr. of Waco, TX, Beth M. Boyd and her husband Danny of Washington and Deborah M. Smith and her husband John of Washington; a brother: David Briley and his wife Sharon of Minneapolis, MN; a sister: Rosemary McPheron of Lima, OH and a sister-in-law: Ann Martin Ezell of Pedal, MS; six grandchildren; one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Martin was predeceased along with his parents by a son: John Oliver Martin and a brother: Gary Pepper Martin.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to the charity of one's choice.
