Charles "Chuck" David Mathis | Eastern NC Now

    Chuck Mathis, age 67, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at home with his family by his side. A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm, Saturday, July 20, 2019 in the chapel of Washington Funeral & Cremation. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

    Chuck was born June 2, 1952 to the late Marie Howard Mathis and Charles Joseph Mathis in Mansfield, Ohio. He joined the Marine Corps which brought him to North Carolina where he was stationed and lived the remainder of his life. Chuck was a jack of all trades and liked to fix things. He enjoyed the outdoors which included gardening, golfing and having pig pickings. Chuck loved canoeing and was a skilled ping pong and pool player. He was always there to lend a helping hand to all his family and friends.

    He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Mathis, two daughters; Angela Dhillon (Parvez Dhillon) and Jennifer Mathis (Alex Long), two sisters; Margaret Schmahl (Larry) and Sandy Barrick (Larry), one brother, Howard Mathis and two grandchildren; Gabriel Dhillon and Maxwell Dhillon. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one son, Charles Joseph Mathis, II C.J., and many close friends.

    The family would like to thank close friends for their unending love and support.
