GREENVILLE, N.C. — East Carolina will officially open its 2019 American Athletic Conference schedule by traveling to Annapolis for a 3:30 p.m. (ET) matchup against Navy on Saturday. The contest against the Midshipmen will mark the third-straight year (and fourth time in the last five seasons) that the Pirates will begin league play on the road. ECU will be vying to post its first 2-1 mark since 2016 when it faces Navy before returning to non-conference action for the remainder of September with a home contest against William & Mary and road tilt at Old Dominion to follow.

    ECU RECORDS AND STREAKS
  • Qualified for 10 bowl appearances since 2000 (eight in the last 13 years) ...
  • Has accounted for 400 or more total yards in nine of the last 13 games ...
  • Has thrown at least one touchdown pass in seven of the last nine games (13 TD throws) ...
  • Has made at least one field goal (when attempted) in 13-straight games ...
  • Has booked 31 tackles for lost yardage in the last five games (6.2 pg) ...
  • Has won 35 of the last 38 games when leading at the half ...
  • Has won eight of its last 11 conference games played in September ...
  • Has won four of its last six conference road games played in September ...

    THE SERIES
Navy leads 5-1 ... The Midshipmen posted 28-23 and 76-35 victories to open the series in 2006 and 2010, respectively, before ECU used Dominique Davis' record-setting 40-of-45 passing effort to post its first (and only) win in 2011 ... Navy triumphs in 2015 and 2016 marked the first AAC matchups between the two programs.

    HOUSTON AGAINST THE MIDSHIPMEN
Mike Houston has never faced Navy during his eight-year head coaching career.

    PIRATE COACHING LEAGUE DEBUTS
First-year East Carolina head football coaches have compiled a modern era record of 1-3 when making their conference debut ... Only Ruffin McNeill captured his league opener, using a 33-yard "Hail Mary" pass from Dominique Davis to Justin Jones with no time remaining to lift the Pirates past Tulsa on Sept. 5, 2010.
