Mrs. Lisa Freeman Blount, a resident of 1368 Whootentown Road, Washington, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Loving Union Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Whootentown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington.

Lisa was born Dec. 17, 1969, to the late Vernon F. Freeman and Mary G. Freeman of Washington. Lisa joined Loving Union Free Will Baptist Church at an early age, where she served as a member of the usher board and the youth choir.

She attended Washington City Schools and graduated from Washington High School in 1989. Lisa furthered her education at Beaufort County Community College where she became a certified Child Care Provider; this is where her passion was for several years. Lisa was employed at Loving Union Free Will Baptist Church Daycare for a number of years, until she decided it was time for a career change. Lisa later became a Correctional Officer, and was employed with the Hyde County Correctional Facilities for the past 10 years.

Lisa was a woman of many passions, but one of her greatest attributes was her love for cooking large meals, and one of her specialties was “chicken salad.”

She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother Mary G. Freeman of the home; her husband Lawrence E. Blount of the home; her son Shakim Freeman and three daughters, Zarreya Freeman, Beyonce Freeman and Alek Blount, all of the home; four brothers, Luther Pope (Wendy) of Queens, N.Y., Tony Freeman (Pamela) of Grovetown, Ga., Vanda Freeman and Karl Freeman (Renee), both of Washington; two sisters, Melzar Moore (Charlie) and Vanessa Freeman, both of Washington; her aunt Mary Jane McCullough; seven nieces and seven nephews; the Gorham family; seven sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; a host of cousins and friends, and her extended family at Hyde Correctional Facilities.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Freeman Jr., and two sisters, Terrie Johnson and Vickie Stephens, all of Willingboro, N.J.

Arrangements are by Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington.
