    Mrs. Geraldine Woolard Modlin, age 81, a resident of Washington, NC died Monday March 23, 2020 at her home.

    A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday March 25, 2020 at the home.

    Mrs. Modlin was born in Beaufort County on November 17, 1938, daughter of the late Lloyd Alton Woolard and the late Cora Lee Gurganus Woolard. On August 9, 1954 she married Alton Ernest Modlin who preceded her in death on April 16, 1998. She dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker and was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ.

    Survivors include two sons: Elvis Ray Modlin (Robin) of Grimesland and Alton Lee Modlin (Dianne) of Bath; a brother: James O. Woolard of Washington; a sister: Viola W. Williams of California; grandchildren: Samantha Jackson ("Ric") of Washington, Joshua Allen Cutler of Grimesland, Alton Lee Modlin, Jr. of Rocky Mount, Tonya Henderson of Bath and William Cody Harris of Bath and great grandchildren: Ashlynn Brooke Cutler and Shelby Brianne Barfield both of Washington, Savanah Williams of Bath, Malachi Mayo of Grimesland, Alexis Whitehurst of Bath and Cheyenne Williams of Bath. Mrs. Modlin was preceded in death, along with her parents and husband, by a daughter: Sherry M. Buchanan; a grandson: Ricky Whitehurst and a brother: Lloyd Alton Woolard, Jr.
