    Ms. Dorothy "Dot" Turnage Elliott, age 80, a resident of Washington, NC, died Saturday May 30, 2020 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

    Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday June 2, 2020 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and will be officiated by Pastor Darren Walker. Pallbearers will include Troy Cordon, Mike Chandler, Joshua Chandler, Jonathan Chandler, David May and Nickolas Radeka III. Jackson Cordon and Mason Wyenandt will serve as honorary pallbearers.

    Ms. Elliott was born on June 14, 1939 to the late James Woodrow Turnage and Litha Eakes Turnage. She was known to her siblings as "Sister" and to her grandchildren she was "Mema". Ms. Elliott loved gardening, music, cooking, dogs, chickens, and NASCAR racing.

    Survivors include her three children, Elaine Whitehurst Chandler and husband Mike of Washington, Dewey Darl Whitehurst, Jr. of Walstonburg, Julianne Elliott Cordon and husband Troy of Graham, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a brother, Buddy Turnage of Stokes, and a sister, Peggy Gaskins of Ayden.

    She is preceded in death by a sister Jeanette Cox, and a grandson, Dewey Darl Whitehurst, III.

    The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home of her daughter Elaine Chandler.
