    William "Bill" Edgar Tankard, Jr. of Bath, NC passed away Saturday June 6, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

    A graveside service will be held on 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 9, 2020 at Oakdale Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Jim Cullen. The family will receive friends 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the cemetery and other times at the home of his sister, Eunice, located at 400 Craven Street, Bath.

    Bill was born on April 11, 1947 to the late William Edgar Tankard and Dorothy Brooks Tankard "Dot". Bill was a graduate of Bath High School. Upon graduation from high school, Bill joined the army and was stationed at Fort Bragg for basic training and AIT and became a Spec 4. He was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. Later he attended Atlantic Christian "Barton" College in Wilson, NC where he graduated with a degree in Sociology. He worked civil service in Fayetteville, NC and Virginia Transit Company. Bill was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and attended services at Bath Christian Church. At Bath Christian Church he was a member of the Men's Fellowship, was the church's photographer and scrapbooker for 20 years. Bill could always be seen with a camera to photograph his memories and those he loved.

    Survivors include a sister: Eunice Tankard Robbins; a niece: Angela Robbins Sawyer (E.T.); a nephew: Sam Robbins (Brandi); a great nephew: Braxton Sawyer; and 2 great nieces: Samantha Sawyer and Ashley Sawyer.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mental Health Association, Humane Society or Bath Christian Church.
