August 30, 1944 – January 6, 2021
    Mr. William Ray Hamilton, age 76, a resident of Pantego, NC died Wednesday January 6, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    Due to the current pandemic a private graveside memorial service for immediate family will be held at Davis Cemetery officiated by Ethan Coltrain. A public memorial service will be held later.

    Mr. Ray was born in Bladen County, NC on August 30, 1944, son of the late William Anderson Hamilton and the late Margaret Townsend Hamilton. He was a graduate of Elizabethtown High School. On November 14, 1965 he married the former Brenda Lee Allen who preceded him in death on February 18, 2019. Mr. Ray's priority was his family, church, and he was a huge supporter of Pungo Christian Academy. He had been very active in the Pungo Ruritan Club where he held several offices and was a deacon of his church, Union Grove Church of Christ. Mr. Ray also served on the board of directors at Tideland Electric Membership Corp. from 1991 to 2011 and served several years as president.

    Survivors include his daughters: Rebecca H. Cahoon (Brad) of Belhaven, Rita H. Graves of Lake Wylie, SC and Holly H. Grant of Elizabethtown; a sister: Barbara Hollingsworth of White Lake; grandchildren: Amanda Carroll (Matt), Laurie Graves (Dylan Lanphere), Morgan Bowers (Jesse), David Graves, Cole Cahoon, Colin Cahoon, Caelan McHarney, Callie McHarney and Conlyn McHarney and a nephew who Mr. Ray considered as his son: Charlie McHarney (Melissa) of Pinehurst. He was predeceased along with his parents and wife by a brother: Jerry Hamilton.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Union Grove Church of Christ, 374 Candy Field Road, Pantego, NC 27860 or to Brenda Hamilton Memorial Scholarship Fund, 983 West Main Street, Belhaven, NC 27810.
