    Mr. Richard Elmo Gaskins, Jr., age 63, a resident of Chocowinity, NC died Tuesday January 26, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.

    Due to the current pandemic, a private memorial service will be held later. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. Gaskins' son: Todd Gaskins in Chocowinity.

    Mr. Gaskins was born in Craven County on November 10, 1957, son of the late Richard Elmo Gaskins, Sr., and the late Frances Gaskins. He attended Crave3n County Schools and was a retired logger having worked with Phillip Dunn Logging in Bridgeton. Mr. Gaskins was known for his love of keeping a vehicle clean and would offer to clean his family and friend's car or truck.

    Survivors include a son: Todd Gaskins and wife Kayla of Chocowinity; two brothers: Robert Gaskins and wife Pam of Vanceboro and David Lee Gaskins of Kinston; a sister: Ann Gaskins Miller and husband Gerald of Kinston and seven grandchildren: Cheradyn, Grace Landon, Bently, Paisly, Traner and Isaiah Gaskins. He was predeceased, along with his parents, by a daughter: Amanda Gaskins.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly request memorial contributions be made to the Richard Gaskins Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1465, Washington, NC 27889.
