    Mr. Ervin Eugene "Gene" Conner, age 60, a resident of West Fifth Street, Washington died Friday, February 5, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Fifteenth Street Church of God, conducted by Pastor Randy Wallace. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday at the church.

    Mr. Conner was born in Washington on December 1, 1960. He was the son of Freddie Albert Conner and Terry Taylor Conner. Mr. Conner was a self-employed painter. Mr. Conner loved painting and decorating. He was a race car fan and loved NASCAR. Mr. Conner enjoyed racing go carts with his dad. He attended Fifteenth Street Church of God.

    On March 14, 1981, Mr. Conner married the former Deborah Jean Austin, who survives.

    Surviving with his wife are his daughters, Kaitlyn Conner of the home, Krystal Conner of Greenville; his parents, Terry and Fred Conner of Washington; brother, Tracey Conner and wife, Jaime of Chocowinity; two nieces, Jessica Conner of Chocowinity, Sherry Langley of Washington; great nephew, Chad Langley; and two brother in laws, Steve Hartley, Joe Hodges and wife, Maryanne all of Washington.

    Mr. Conner was preceded in death by his sister, Missy Conner and sister in law, Elaine Hartley.

    Per Mr. Conner's request, there will be no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the Ervin Eugene Conner Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1465, Washington, N.C. 27889.
