    Mr. William George Cooper, age 84, a resident of Washington, NC died Saturday February 27, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    A private graveside service will be held.

    Mr. Cooper as born in Oshkosh County, WI on January 31, 1937, son of the late Delbert A. cooper and the late Cora Mae Rutherford Cooper. He graduated from high school in Waco, TX and served his country in the U.S. Air Force. In the service he was a photographer and retired on January 1, 1978 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He married the former Julia Ann Jones who preceded him in death. On March 29, 1975 he married the former Virginia Dare Keech who survives. With his military career he naturally enjoyed taking photos of family Portraits and special events. He was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church in Washington.

    Survivors include his children: Delbert Ray Cooper of Greenville and Georgia C. Shcherer (Jeffrey) of Washington; stepchildren: Robbie Dare Johnson of Arkansas, Emily Parker of Washington, Tammie R. Johnson of Washington, and Lisa Bargelt (Leo) of Washington; Brothers: Charles Cooper of Merrillville, Indiana, Jerry Cooper (Shirley) of Arlington, Texas; Sisters: Sandra Leschner (Albert) of Waco, Texas, Kathleen Leschner (Gordon) of Irving, Texas, Shirley Rosser (Ronald) of Midlothian, Texas, Carol Poehl (Ray) of Granbury, Texas. and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Cooper was predeceased, along with his parents and first wife, by two sons: Billie Jo Gregory and Bobby Earl Cooper and a stepson: Michael Wayne Moore.
