Gerald Edward Allen | Eastern NC Now

   Gerald Edward Allen, 69, of Plymouth died peacefully Thursday, August 16, 2012, surrounded by his loving family and friends at his residence in Plymouth.

   Born June 22, 1943, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Nathan Edward Allen and Cathleen Boyd Allen. Gerald was a farmer and a good steward of the land. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1969. In 1971 he received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award and in 1984 the Outstanding Conservation Farm Family Award. He was a former chairman and member of the Washington County Commissioners. He served on the Board of Directors of East Carolina Farm Credit, was Treasurer of the Blackland Farm Association, a Washington County Future Farmers of America Alumni and Washington County 4-H Livestock Show supporter.

   His family includes his wife, Jeannie Papineau Allen of Plymouth, N.C.; daughter, Rebecca Allen Paul and husband Michael of Washington, N.C.; son, Josh Edward Allen and wife Becky of Washington, N.C.; sister, Linda A. Folsom of High Point, N.C.; brother, James Carroll Allen of Washington, N.C.; grandsons, Alban Paul, Jackson Paul, Spencer Allen, Evan Allen and Jonathan Allen.

   Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth with Reverend Edgar Masencup and Josh Allen officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
