    Mr. Edward "Dean" Andrews, age 65, a resident of Grimesland, NC died Monday October 4, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    Dean was born in Beaufort County on December 14, 1955, son of Edward Carlton Andrews and Retha Lee Smith Andrews. He attended D. H. Conley High School. Dean had thirty + years of experience in the air filtration field at AAF Flanders in Washington. He worked his way up from being a papermill operator to Research & Development where he developed a filter media targeting anthrax, that would save many lives. He was instrumental in the process of the qualification of filters used in the nuclear industry. His technology protected many important buildings such as the Pentagon, Library of Congress, the International Space Station, nuclear facilities, and the pharmaceutical settings. On December 27, 1981 he married the former Deborah Faye Harris, the mother of his daughter: Deanna Pryor, who preceded him in death on January 17, 2019. On July 7, 2021 he married the former Tammy Michelle Cox in Gatlinburg, TN. They enjoyed traveling to the outer banks and the mountains of NC and Tennessee. Dean's hobbies included fishing, yard work, carpentry, grilling out with his family, getting cozy by a warm fire, and quiet evenings at home after a hard day's work.

    Surviving along with his wife: Tammy of the home and his parents: Edward and Retha Andrews of Grimesland are daughters: Deanna Pryor (Steve) of Grimesland and Jayda Cox of the home; a granddaughter: Emalee Pryor of Grimesland; a special cousin: Diane Hodges (Curtis) of Grimesland; his extended family of inlaws of Farmville and three special canine companions.

    A celebration of Dean's life will be held at a later date.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Beaufort County Humane Society, P.O. Box 8, Washington, NC 27889.
