Press Release to the Media:

Carolina Jamboree 2012 is up and running! Reviews are coming in with a very positive tone and folks are really enjoying the show. There are just three performances left: Saturday, Oct 6, Tuesday, October 9, and Saturday, October 13. Don't miss out!!

Many of you are aware that in addition to operating the Rocky Hock Playhouse, full time I also teach at College of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, NC. One of the great pleasures I have is to direct the plays and musicals at the college. This semester we are producing the wonderful and inspiring play THE MIRACLE WORKER. This is, of course, the story of young Helen Keller and her extraordinary teacher, Anne Sullivan. We've had an incredible response to this production and have had to add additional performances to accommodate the crowds. Performances are October 25 through 28 and I hope you'll consider coming to one of the performances.

Don't be fooled by the low ticket prices! The show is terrific and I've enjoyed directing the nearly 20 people in the cast. We have a number of very, very talented children in the show too which adds immensely to the production. Tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for students. The College of the Albemarle box office number is: (252) 335-9050. I guarantee you'll love the show!! Hope to see you there. Incidentally, we'll be doing Fiddler on the Roof at COA February 28 through March 10. Can't wait!! I'll keep you posted.

Young Helen Keller, blind, deaf, and mute since infancy, is in danger of being sent to an institution because her inability to communicate has left her frustrated and violent. In desperation, her parents hire Annie Sullivan to tutor their daughter. Despite the Kellers' resistance Annie suspects that within Helen lies the potential for more, if only she can reach her. Through persistence, love, and sheer stubbornness, Annie breaks through to Helen who one day, quite by accident, suddenly understands that water "has a name" and the "miracle of language" opens her mind.
