Mrs. Gladys "Irene" Lilley Howard | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Gladys "Irene" Lilley Howard, age 84, a resident of 550 Oak Ridge Lane, Belhaven, NC died Saturday October 20, 2012 at River Trace Nursing Center of Washington, NC.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday October 22, 2012 at the Oscar Lilley Cemetery of Pinetown officiated by Pastor J. N. Baggett and Pastor Greg Bell. Pallbearers will be Zack Howard, Larry Hudson, Carter Hudson, John Nick Foreman, Austin Foreman and Mitchell Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Tulsa Hudson, Frankie Kelley and Danny Lilley.

    Mrs. Irene was born in Beaufort County on July 8, 1928 daughter of the late Elijah Lilley and the late Elizabeth Harris Lilley. She married William Thomas "Bill" Howard, Sr. on April 15, 1943 who preceded her in death on August 29, 1997. She was a homemaker and a member of Pinetown Missionary Baptist Church.

    Mrs. Irene is survived by two daughters: Helen Kelley of Belhaven and Alma Carrow (Ronald) of Pinetown; two sons: Billy Howard (Patsy) of Goldsboro and Johnny Howard (Dinah) of Pantego; a brother: Grover Lilley of Knots Island, NC; two sisters: Helen Lilley of Chesapeake, VA and Ella Dail of Washington; twelve grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren. Mrs. Irene is predeceased by a sister: Lula Brown and three half-brothers: Henry Lilley Johnny Lilley and Edgar Lilley.

    The family will receive friends 6 PM to 8 PM Sunday October 21, 2012 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
