    The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is proud to announce the following scholarship recipients for the Spring 2022 semester. Registration is now open for the Summer 2022 semester. The Beaufort Promise does not cover summer semesters, but qualified students can access financial aid.

    Layla Brock, 20, received the Bill Pruitt/St. Thomas Episcopal Church Scholarship. Brock is a Pantego resident working toward her Associate in Applied Science in Cosmetology. She attended Northside High School and plans to own a salon. She is currently a waitress at Blackbeards Tavern. Brock is the daughter of Tammy & Monk Pugh of Pantego and Christopher and Heather Brock of Washington.

    This scholarship is to support a student who is a graduate of Beaufort County Schools. The student must be in good standing with a minimum GPA 2.75. Preference is given to students entering two-year job ready programs that require an Associate Degree in Applied Science or appropriate certificate.

    Ashley Williams, 30, received the Robert C. Page Scholarship. Williams is a Greenville resident working toward her Associate Degree in Nursing. She attended D.H. Conley High School. The mother of one plans to get her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and work as a family nurse practitioner. She holds a bachelor's degree in child wellness advocacy from East Carolina University. Williams currently works as an insurance coordinator at ECU Student Health Services.

    Established by Lena H. Page, RN in 1992 in memory of her husband, this annual scholarship is awarded to a nursing student who demonstrates high academic achievement and financial need. Mrs. Page graduated from the BCCC Nursing program in 1968.

    Karen Chapman, 32, received the Harold & Louise Lane Scholarship. Chapman is a New Bern resident who is getting her Associate Degree in Nursing. She attended New Bern High School and plans to work in orthopedic surgery. She currently works at Carolina Orthopedics. Chapman is a mother of three and the spouse of Torrance Chapman. She is the daughter of Frances Edwards of New Bern.

    Established in 1998 in memory of Harold Alton Lane, Jr., and in honor of Constance Lane Howard, by their parents Harold Lane, Sr. and his wife Louise, this endowment provides annual scholarships to one or more students in the nursing and or an associate degree program.

    Quentin Hatten, 28, received the Robert "Bobby" E. Farish Memorial Scholarship. The Robersonville resident is part of the business administration program. Hatten attended Farmville Central High School, and he is the son of Shirelle Speight of Farmville. Hatten currently works as a merchandiser at Minges Bottling Group, but he plans to become an entrepreneur.

    Rebecca Farish established this endowment in 2005 to honor the memory of her husband with scholarships that are reflective of his talents and interests in life. The scholarships are awarded to students in the business, criminal justice or automotive technology programs each year, and are based on need.

    Naomi Davis, 36, received the Bunyan Ruritan Club Scholarship. Davis is a Pinnacle resident working toward an Associate in Applied Science in Information Technology. Davis earned her GED from Forsyth Technical Community College and plans to find remote work in the information technology field. Davis is a mother of three and is the partner of Daniel Fowlkes.

    Established in 1991, scholarships are awarded to students residing in BCCC service area who demonstrate financial need and strong academic promise. Scholarships are awarded annually for fall and spring semesters.

    Kristin Boone, 31, received the Cypress Landing Scholarship. Boone is a software and web development student. The Grifton resident attended Ayden-Grifton High School and plans to work creating websites and UX with a company and own a business. She currently works as a complete specialist at Liveops.

    In 2007 the homeowners in the Cypress Landing subdivision created this first-of-its-kind endowment at BCCC. Mrs. Helen Sommerkamp and Mr. Chris Harris organized a campaign to meet the initial goal. This scholarship is awarded to a Beaufort County BCCC student who demonstrates need.

    Jaclyn Small, 35, received the Jarl & Grey Bowers Scholarship. Small is a Belhaven resident who is a part of the cosmetology program. Small attended St. Raphael Academy in Rhode Island. She plans to open a salon and holds an Associate in Arts in Education. Small is a mother of two and the spouse of Zac Small.

    This scholarship honors the memories of Grey Worley Bowers and Jarl E. Bowers. Mrs. Bowers taught home economics in Waltonsburg, Bailey and at Washington High School. She was an accomplished pianist and organ player. Mr. Bowers served in the U.S. Army, where he was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II, resulting in a Purple Heart. He worked in insurance and finance. Both were active members of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

    Kennita Bond, 34, received the Lois Stiles Loope Memorial Scholarship. Bond is a Windsor resident who is a Licensed Practical Nursing student. Bond plans to become a registered nurse, and she currently works as a phlebotomist at Vidant Medical Center. She is the daughter of Rosa Bond and the late Elmond Bond Sr. Bond is also a mother of three.

    The Lois Stiles Loope Memorial Scholarship honors the mother of Dr. David Loope, sixth president of Beaufort County Community College. Mrs. Loope worked as a registered nurse for 38 years, and the scholarship in her name assists first-generation college students who enroll in either credit or non-credit health care programs.

WASHINGTON, NC— Beaufort County Community College has eight-week, online "Late-Start" courses starting March 6.
A new scholarship will help more North Carolina families attend university and offer them debt-free community college.

WASHINGTON, NC— The Beaufort County Community College Foundation received a $40,000 donation from the First Annual Belhaven Trout Tournament and Festival.
