Is the state of our union better off under Biden? | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

    Good evening,

As Joe Biden delivers his first State of the Union address, here's what Americans are saying after one year under Biden and Democrats:

On the economy: Biden has overseen the highest inflation in 40 years.

"Looking forward to having to pay about a dollar, dollar twenty-five more per gallon thanks to Mr. Biden's policies" - Dan Edel, Iowa Business Owner

On education: In his first 100 days, Biden's administration secretly worked with teachers' union bosses to keep schools closed.

"Joe Biden's policies are hurting our students and our children. His administration believes that radical teacher unions and government officials know what is best, but the only ones that know what is best for students and children is their family." - Susan Mills, North Carolina public school teacher

On crime: At least sixteen major Democrat-run cities set all-time records for homicide last year.

"The Biden Administration is not tough enough on crime." - Congressman Tom Tiffany (WI-07)

"We're seeing that public safety is being affected hugely here (in California) because of the policies, not just at the national level but the one-party rule that we've seen here... We saw huge spikes in crime this last year. 31% increase in homicides." - Jessica Millan Patterson, California GOP Chair

On the border crisis: Thousands of illegal immigrants are crossing the border each month and being released into the U.S. without being tracked.

"I'm furious as to what has happened with our country, in almost a year and a half worth of time with President Joe Biden... starting off with the enormous border security problem." - Kelley Koch, Dallas County Republican Chair

On unemployment: Millions of Americans are still jobless, and Biden has put thousands out of work because of actions he has taken.

"People are really struggling to find people to hire, and yet we have the highest unemployment rate in the entire nation. California Democrats once again when it comes to their policies on economic well being here in California have failed us." - Jessica Millan Patterson, California GOP Chair

Are Americans better off under Joe Biden? 58% of Americans say the state of our union is worse now than it was a year ago, while a majority of the country views Biden's first year as a "failure."

"That's why you see the shift from Democrats to Republicans. This means a big loss to Democrats, but a big gain to the Republicans." - Jesus Marquez, Republican National Hispanic Assembly Leader

Bottom line: After a constant stream of crises, the American people won't settle for the empty promises from the White House. Joe Biden's first year in office has been marked by failed policies, weak leadership, and divisive rhetoric.
