Legislative Brief

    The General Assembly did not conduct any public business this week. Members are expected to return to Raleigh next week to vote on technical corrections legislation - a comprehensive bill that makes tweaks to legislation passed earlier in the session. NCACC has made recommendations to General Assembly leadership for technical corrections based on feedback from county commissioners and staff. Suggestions include adjustments to S.L. 2021-138; Criminal Justice Reform as well as S.L. 2021-191 Enhance Local Government Transparency. In addition to technical corrections legislation, legislators may also take up other legislation related to COVID-19 or gubernatorial vetoes.

Latest Governing Beaufort County

The city council has only made two official acts as of February 16, 2026
While this afternoon’s update once again included increased probabilities of moderate to major impacts, it will likely be tomorrow before we receive specific accumulation details.
Government and its bureaucracy are not perfect, and never has been in this self-governed society, here at the local level, at our state level, and at our federal level, therefore, it is incumbent upon all elected politicians to seek a comfortable level of representation for our constituents.
Beaufort County is implementing a new emergency alert system. All residents are encouraged to sign up to receive alerts via phone and email.

Has the local government acted responsibly and transparently?
Beaufort County Commissioners meet, and work by a majority vote to do the business of those constituents they purport to represent.
Waste, fraud, abuse and incompetence continue to govern county school budgets and decision making.

However, if one believes that Beaufort County government is in full command of the issues of our times, here locally, one might need to steel their resolve for a more perfect understanding of the intellect possessed by the Center-Left /Left Coalition.
To borrow a big phrase from this salient plan originating at the federal level, under President Trump's watchful eye, whose time has finally arrived, even here in the mispent realm of Beaufort County government(s).
We must vet, and elect those who will actually represent the people or we will be stuck with the same mess we have now.

The process to close Snowden continues to move forward. Time is running out to oppose this decision.
Closing Snowden is an intentional act based on poor information and a lack of oversight and accountability by the Superintendent and School Board.
