The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is proud to announce the following scholarship recipients for the Spring 2022 semester. Registration is now open for the Summer 2022 semester. The Beaufort Promise does not cover summer semesters, but qualified students can access financial aid.

Tenille Rogers, 44, received the Kimberly Anne & David Teeter Scholarship. Rogers is a Tarboro resident who is part of the business administration program. She attended Bay Shore High School and works at LS Tractor USA as a customer service manager. She is a mother of five and daughter of Maelene Rogers.

Established in 1994 in memory of Kimberly Anne Teeter, and expanded in 2009 to include David, the daughter and son of Ruth and Vernon Teeter, this scholarship is awarded annually to a student enrolled in the college transfer curriculum and is in good academic standing. Preference is given to the child of a BCCC faculty or staff member.

Kelly Smith, 50, received the Myrtle Cutler Jones Scholarship. She is a Vanceboro resident who is part of the practical nursing program. Smith works as a medical assistant at PortHealth Services. She plans to become a registered nurse and holds an Associate in Applied Science in Human Services Technology and an Associate in Applied Sciences in Human Services Substance Abuse. Smith is a mother of three.

Established in 2002 by the family of Myrtle Cutler Jones, this scholarship is awarded to a second year BCCC student in a medical program. Jones, a Beaufort County native, recognized the importance of a medical facility in a rural community. She wanted her estate to benefit students in the medical field. Recipients must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Millie Ebron, 61, received the Cypress Landing Scholarship. Ebron is a Washington resident and a part of the human service technology program. Ebron attended Wingate High School and plans to become an entrepreneur after she obtains her degree. Ebron holds an Associate in Applied Science in Business Administration from BCCC and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Mount Olive.

In 2007 the homeowners in the Cypress Landing subdivision created this first-of-its-kind endowment at BCCC. Mrs. Helen Sommerkamp and Mr. Chris Harris organized a campaign to meet the initial goal. This scholarship is awarded to a Beaufort County BCCC student who demonstrates need.

Shanicqua Daniels, 30, received the Art & Alice Keeney Scholarship. Daniels is a Greenville resident working toward an Associate in Arts. Daniels attended Northside High School. She holds a Medical Assisting Diploma. She plans to become a psychologist. She is the partner of Leutissuer Weston and is the daughter of Duchelle Whitley- Blount and the late David Earl Jones.

In honor of Art Keeney's retirement in June of 2009, as CEO of East Carolina Bank (ECB), which is based in Engelhard, NC, the ECB board of directors established this endowment to recognize both Art and his wife Alice for their tremendous accomplishments at the bank, in the Hyde County community, and throughout the ECB service area. First preference for these scholarships goes to students residing in Hyde County, who have a GPA of 2.5 or better, and demonstrate need.

Cierra Bembridge, 21, received the Frances M. Barnes Trust Memorial Scholarship. She is a Williamston resident working toward an Associate Degree in Nursing. Bembridge attended Riverside High School and plans to work as a registered nurse.

Frances M. Barnes Trust Memorial scholarships are awarded to Martin County curriculum and continuing educations attending BCCC who intend to reside and work in Martin County upon course completion. Students must meet respective scholarship guidelines for the curriculum or continuing education program of study, show satisfactory academic progress and demonstrate financial need.

She attended West Craven High School and plans to become an analyst within information systems. Wright is a mother of one, the partner of Valon Hemby, and the daughter of Naomi Anderson. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.

Established in 2012 by long-time and beloved BCCC Guidance Counselor Sue Brookshire, this endowment celebrates the many students she helped along the way and fulfills her desire to assist future BCCC students in overcoming adversity through attaining their education goals.

Olivia Smith, 46, received the Myrtle Cutler Jones Scholarship. She is a Saratoga resident who is a part of the nursing program. Smith attended Northside High School and currently works at UNC Wayne Hospital. Smith holds a Diploma in Practical Nursing.
