For Immediate Release

(Raleigh, NC)     Dan Forest today claimed victory (again) in the race for Lt. Governor and called on his opponent, Linda Coleman, to concede the race. With all 100 counties having completed their post election "canvas" of all remaining provisional and absentee ballots, Forest maintained a lead of 6396 votes out of nearly 4.5 million ballots cast.

"We won on election night, and now that provisional and absentee ballots have been counted, we have won again," said Forest.

With Forest's margin of victory below 10,000, his opponent is legally entitled to call for a recount, a process that will cost the State of North Carolina several million dollars and the Forest campaign several hundred thousand dollars to defend their victory.

"No statewide race in North Carolina history has been overturned by a recount, especially with a lead of this size. Putting the cards back in the machine and running the numbers again will do nothing to change the outcome of my race," said Forest. "The only reason to call for a recount now is to make my campaign raise and spend several hundred thousand dollars in legal fees and delay my being sworn into office."

Publisher's note: Then we examine this note of encouragement from losing candidate, albeit close, Linda Coleman, to her supporters. If one reads between the lines, of both releases, one can discern that we are coming closer to the eventuality.

Today's the day

The state board of elections will start counting the provisional ballots in my race for Lt. Governor--which is still too close to call.

For the past 10 days, my team and I have been fighting to make sure every North Carolinian's vote is counted and every voice is heard.

Since Election Day, hundreds of North Carolinians have contributed to the Linda Coleman Legal Fund to make sure we have the resources we need to check these provisional ballots and protect valid voters' ballots cast during this campaign.

Although the provisional ballots will be counted today, we need your support so we fight for the thousands of legitimate provisional ballots that currently set to not be counted.

This is our last chance in this election to keep this seat in the democratic column. Stand with me today.

    Linda Coleman
