Betty “Meredith” Keech Carowan | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Betty "Meredith" Keech Carowan, age 90, a resident of Terra Ceia Road, Pantego and former resident of Autumnfield, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home in Washington.

    Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the Carowan Family Cemetery, Terra Ceia Road, Pantego, conducted by her nephew, Lewis Keech.

    Mrs. Carowan was born in Beaufort County on October 10, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Levi Benjamin Keech and Cora Webster Keech. Mrs. Carowan was a 1950 graduate of Pantego High School. She was a homemaker and member of Free Union Free Will Baptist Church.

    On February 20, 1954, she married Aderian Lewis Carowan, who preceded her in death, June 30, 1994.

    Mrs. Carowan is survived by two sons, Aderian "Lewis" Carowan, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Washington, Conway J. Carowan and his wife, Sharon of Pantego; two daughters, Ann Carowan Collier and her husband, Ray of Pinetown, Betty Jo Carowan of Pantego; and blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored.

    The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at her home, 5035 Terra Ceia Road, Pantego.
