    Gregory Telford Ormond, Sr. 63, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013.

    He was born Jan. 31, 1949, in Beaufort County to the late Jessie T. and Etta Lee Squires Ormond. Greg was a five year cancer survivor and enjoyed his work. He was a crane operator for over 20 years and was currently working for Roanoke Valley Steel Erectors and loved operating his crane. Greg loved horses, livestock and just being outdoors. Most of all, his love was his children and his grandchildren.

    He is survived by his son, Gregory T. Ormond Jr. and wife Amy; daughter, Sharon Ormond Cooke and husband Keith; sisters, Glenda Douglas, Darlene Ormond, Sandra Miller and husband Bob, Janet Windley, Evon Berting and husband Tom, Wanda White and husband Curtis; grandchildren, Robert Cooke, Joseph Cooke, Kimberly Cooke, Brianna Lewis, Courtney Cooke, Felicity Lewis, Matthew Cooke, Haley Ormond, Kaitlynn Ormond, Gregory T. "Trey" Ormond III, and numerous nieces and nephews.

    A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis White officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
