Mr. Joseph Stephen "Steve" Smith | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Joseph Stephen "Steve" Smith, age 61, a resident of Winterville and Belhaven died Sunday, January 6, 2013, at his Belhaven home.

    A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven officiated by Tony Stewart. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Terry McCall, Kevin Armstrong, Delbert Armstrong, Georgie Baker, John Hoard and Don Cox will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Daniels, Steve Carawan and Walt O'Neal.

    Steve was born in Belhaven on November 12, 1951, son of the late Charles Nathanial Smith, Sr. and the late Margarite McKinney Smith. He was a 1970 graduate of J.A. Wilkinson High School and earned his Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from South Wood College. Steve was a great entrepreneur in many fields but his passion was in Home Automation.

    Steve is survived by a son: Matthew Smith of Chocowinity; two daughters: Jessica Smith of Bath and her fiancé Aaron Small of Belhaven; and Stacy Smith Wilson and her husband Bob of Greenville; a brother C.N. Smith of Manteo and a grandchild: Kaiah Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at Steve's Belhaven home located at 487 Bay St., Belhaven.
