    Mr. Larry Oders Boyd, age 56, a resident of Williamston died Wednesday, December 19, 2012.

    A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013, at First Church of Christ, 520 E. 10th St., Washington officiated by Steve Hill and Owen Emanuel.

    Larry was born in Onslow County on February 24, 1956. He was a graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School in Belhaven, NC. Larry served his country in the U.S. Air Force, January 1976 to January 1995, and earned the rank of Master Sergeant. He served as a law enforcement specialist and military training instructor. Larry received a certificate in Aerospace Management and a Master of Science degree from Central Michigan University. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Mt. Olive College.

    Larry served as a parole officer for the state of NC and was an instructor of Basic Law Enforcement at Martin Community College. In 2012, Larry obtained his NC Real Estate Broker license. He was a Sales Broker with Coldwell Banker Coastal Rivers Realty in Washington. Larry was a member of Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church and also attended other churches.

    Larry is survived by his mother: Mary Boyd Smith and husband Marvin of Washington; and a special cousin: Gerri Boyd McKinley. Larry was predeceased by his father: Oders "O.J." Boyd, Jr. and a brother: Johnny F. Boyd.

    The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, January 13, 2013, at First Church of Christ of Washington and other times at the home of Mary Boyd Smith, 304 Willows Court, Washington.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Beaufort County Relay for Life, Attn: Elizabeth Brown, P.O. Box 2708, Washington, NC 27889 or to First Church of Christ, 520 E. 10th Street, Washington, NC 27889.
