Mrs. Virginia Stevens Fleming | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Virginia Stevens Fleming, age 80, a resident of 2435 Whichard's Beach Road, Chocowinity, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Oakdale Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Henry Horne.

    Mrs. Fleming's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers: Chris Horton, Brandon Horton, Jennifer Edmond, Tiffany Creech, Heather Creech, Ashley Jamison, Sarah Jamison and Robert Earl Gaskins.

    Mrs. Fleming was born in West Norfolk, VA, on November 15, 1932. She was the daughter of the late John Harry Stevens and Hester Penelope Grammar Stevens. She worked for many years at King Chicken and the Dairy Palace in Washington. Mrs. Fleming was a member of the Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. She loved to shop and travel. Mrs. Fleming was passionate about children with cancer.

    Mrs. Fleming was married to Robert Fleming, who preceded her in death in July of 1983.

    Mrs. Fleming is survived by one son, Douglas Wayne Fleming and wife, Sarah of Chocowinity; two daughters, Susan Jamison and husband, James "Cotton" Jamison, Lisa Creech and husband, Michael Creech, all of Washington; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

    In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Fleming was preceded in death by two sisters, Naomi Stevens and Elizabeth Sawyer and a brother, John Harry Stevens.

    The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, January 11, 2013, at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington and other times at the home of her daughter, Susan Jamison, 150 Everett Lane, Washington.
