Ginger Thompson Downs | Eastern NC Now

    It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Ginger Thompson Downs, age 56, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital on November 17 after a brief illness.

    Born August 26, 1966, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Evelyn Thompson of Plymouth, NC and was preceded in death by her biological parents Charles and Diane Oliver Thompson, Dennis and Anne Skittletharpe Oliver and her brother Andrew Carl Thompson.

    After graduating from Plymouth High School in 1985, Ginger attended the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business and worked as a mortgage loan officer and credit repair specialist and was a resident of Pooler, GA.

    She is survived by her former husband Richard Todd Downs, their two sons, Richard Colby Downs and Nicholas Carlson Downs (Savannah); three grandchildren, Nicholas Cade, Raylan Colby and Milia Carlyn all of Pooler, GA; siblings Bob Thompson (Pam) of Swansboro, NC, Denise Crowley (Joe) of Morehead City, NC, Debra Nixon (Don) of Belhaven, NC, Curtis Thompson of Wilmington, NC and Marcus Thompson (Amy) of Plymouth NC; honorary grandparents Frank and Janet Harper of Whitakers, NC and many nieces and nephews.

    To honor Ginger, the family will hold a private celebration of life with her loved ones on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
