The national 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is now receiving phone calls. Text and chat service continues uninterrupted.

    RALEIGH     The national 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is now receiving phone calls. Text and chat service continues uninterrupted.

    988 callers are typically routed to call centers in their own state. As of right now, calls are being routed to accredited backup centers. North Carolina is one. Callers should be aware they may be speaking with a counselor in another state or in North Carolina. This does not affect crisis support.

    If you're in crisis and need support, please call or text 988 or chat with a counselor at 988lifeline.org/chat. Veterans can call 988 and press 1.

    Any media inquiries regarding 988 Lifeline and the Dec. 1, 2022, outage should be directed to 988 Lifeline's Communications Team at communications@vibrant.org.
