Carol Jean Smith Sawyer | Eastern NC Now

    Carol Jean Smith Sawyer, age 82, a resident of Fuquay Varina NC passed away at her home December 20, 2022.

    Carol was born November 28, 1940, in Washington NC to the late Charles Louis Smith and Helen Fortiscue Smith. She graduated from Washington High School in 1959. On June 9, 1959, she married her sweetheart Ray W. Sawyer, who survives.

    In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Rae Sawyer Reinink of Fuquay Varina: four grandchildren: George Sawyer (Samantha), Avery Reinink, Jakob Reinink (Alicia) and Janna Reinink Walton (Jonathan); and by her sister Helen Smith Hardison (Willie) of Washington, and her brother Lee Smith (Inge) of Greenville NC.

    Carol was preceded in death by her son David W Sawyer.

    A memorial service will be held Dec. 27, 2022, 11am, at Providence Presbyterian Church 14664 NC Hwy. 210, Angier NC 27501.

    There will be a private graveside service in Washington NC at a later date.
