Margie Janet Manning Boyd | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Mrs. Margie Janet Manning Boyd, age 81, a resident of 1686 Dan Taylor Road, Washington, NC died February 15, 2023, at River Trace Nursing Home.

    Mrs. Boyd was born on March 9, 1941, daughter of the late Lester and Rachel Manning. On July 11, 1959, Mrs. Boyd married Jerry Lee Boyd, Sr. who preceded her in death on December 16, 2011. She was a hairdresser for many years in Washington and homemaker.

    Mrs. Boyd enjoyed watching her granddaughter play sports, especially softball. She also loved college basketball and the UNC Tarheels.

    Surviving is her son Jerry Lee Boyd, Jr., and his wife Terry, and her granddaughter, Morgan Boyd.

    In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Sally Hodges.

    The family would like to send out a "Special Thank-you" to their family, friends, and staff at River Trace Nursing Home for their love, compassion, care, visits, and prayers.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Freewill Baptist Church at 901 N. Bonner Street or to the charity of one's choice.
