   Raleigh, N.C.     Today, Governor McCrory announced the following direct appointments:

North Carolina Special Superior Court Judge

    •   Reappoint Richard L. Doughton (Alleghany County) - Judge Doughton has served continuously as a Special Superior Court Judge since 1997 and previously represented the Town of Sparta and the Alleghany County School Board.

District Court Judge for Judicial District 29A

    •   Appoint Robert K. Martelle (Rutherford County) - Martelle has served as a Partner at Williams & Martelle since 1995 and is a former defense counsel for the District 29A Drug Treatment Court. He currently represents the County Department of Social Services.

North Carolina Partnership for Children, Chair

    •   Appoint Nancy H. Brown (Wake County) - Brown served as head of the Child Day Care Section, a precursor to the Division of Child Development and Early Education. She currently serves on the North Carolina Partnership for Children Board and serves as Vice Chair of the Committee on Accountability.
