We have been communicating with the National Weather Service regarding the storm surge values along the Pamlico River.
Everyone is either a member of a family, or has close association with a family that is forced to shelter a pathetic character, ignobly tolerated; a family member that exists only to be a monumental embarrassment on their best days; their worst days are horror stories.
No big changes with this update. The threats of heavy rain, strong winds, coastal flooding, and isolated tornadoes have not changed. The highest impacts for both heavy rain and the tornado threat will occur today.
Our overall impacts from a prolonged period of wind, rain and elevated waters from both Ian and other weather features, HAVE NOT CHANGED. We still expect a long duration of elevated waters through multiple high tide cycles.

We are monitoring a trending shift to the east with the forecasted track, which would place the center of Ian close to re-emerging in the Atlantic near Daytona Beach Florida, before continuing northeast along the Georgia / Southern South Carolina coast.
As previously mentioned, there continues to be subtle differences between the forecast models so far, which drastically change the forecasted impacts for Beaufort County.
Hurricane Ian continues to strengthen and is expected to intensify to a Major Hurricane tonight or early tomorrow morning before approaching the Dry Tortugas and Florida Keys.

Please see the email below and attached briefing from the NWS for the latest update on Hurricane Ian. As previously mentioned, slight changes continue to be made to the forecast, with general impacts Beaufort County listed below.
The latest forecast update continues to trend towards a more northern track, with the center of Ian making landfall along the Florida panhandle, and moving north across central Georgia, and western South and North Carolina.
Our office is continuing to monitor Tropical Storm Ian as it progresses towards the southeast US.
Our office is currently monitoring the development of Tropical Depression #9 in the Caribbean Sea.
If all politics, and I will add for us here in Beaufort County governing, is local, we Beaufort County Commissioners must make a formidable stand against the Biden /Harris Open Borders and Resettlement project, or forever be resigned that we are, and will be losing our Republic.

Beaufort County Board of Health Announces retirement of Health Director. Jim Madson is retiring January 1 after a noteworthy career which spanned 38 years in public health, 24 years in the Army as a Preventive Medicine Officer and 14 in NC.
A growing concern that has been expressed to me in the past, and quite a bit more recently, is that the bidding process in Beaufort County Government needs to be replaced by a more transparent process; one that favors the sense of fairness, while projecting a perspective of fiduciary obligation.
