DeSantis’ Memoir Sold More Copies In Its First Week Than Books From Trump, Obama, and Clinton | Eastern North Carolina Now

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis' first memoir, which was launched ahead of an expected announcement that he will run for president in 2024, sold more copies in its first week than books from Donald Trump, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton.

The news about DeSantis' book, "The Courage to Be Free: Florida's Blueprint for America's Revival," comes as DeSantis visited Iowa this week, a move often taken by Republicans who are strongly considering entering a presidential race since Iowa is the first state to vote in the GOP nomination process.

DeSantis' book sold more than 94,300 copies in its first week, according to NPD BookScan data reviewed by Business Insider.

Sales for DeSantis' book far outpaced the sales of the last two presidents and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who ran and lost as the Democrat nominee in the 2016 presidential race.

Trump's 2015 campaign book "Crippled America" sold 27,687 copies in its first week while Clinton's book "Hard Choices" sold 86,200 copies in its first week. Then-Senator Obama, ahead of his 2008 presidential run, released "The Audacity of Hope," which sold 67,500 copies in its first week of sales.

The report further added that The New York Times had DeSantis' book as its No. 1 bestseller for print and e-book nonfiction, a distinction made even more impressive considering the fact that those numbers do not include bulk purchases. DeSantis' book was also the No. 1 most purchased on Amazon.

The news about the success of DeSantis' book comes as he has reportedly indicated to those close to him that he intends to run for president, according to The Washington Post.

Ken Cuccinelli, who served as Acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security in the Trump administration, launched a PAC on Thursday urging DeSantis to enter the 2024 presidential race. The Post said that the PAC "is likely to serve as an approved outside spending vehicle for his campaign," according to several people with knowledge of the planning.

Cuccinelli, who is a hardliner against illegal immigration, also served in the Trump administration as Acting Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

"I have been speaking to many grassroots conservative activists around the country who are very enthusiastic for Governor DeSantis to run for President in 2024," Cuccinelli said in a statement after launching his Never Back Down PAC, "The energy is there, grassroots conservatives see the Governor as a leader and a fighter with a winning conservative track record who will lead the Republican Party to victory in 2024. Based on those conversations, I am most confident that we will build an unmatched grassroots political army for Governor DeSantis to help carry him to the White House."

"Governor DeSantis has a proven record defending freedom, defending parental rights, defending the unborn, defending our children," said Cuccinelli, adding, "America's future is Ron DeSantis. Ron DeSantis doesn't just talk; he acts, but most of all he never backs down. Governor DeSantis, today I'm asking you to run for President. You've had our back now we will have yours."

In the most recent Midterms Election, the "Republican Red Wave" turned out to be a "Republican Red Ripple," which, as in all elections, confounded the political prognosticators of what to expect down the governing /political road: What, and who, do you think is best for this meandering Representative Republic in the near future?
Because they know how to best allocate the public's money back to the right part of the public, the Democrats will NOW always prevail and get my vote.
With patriotic pragmatism the cornerstone of the best of the Republican Party, they will ultimately save this Constitutional Republic from self-destruction.
Since the Executive Branch is so important to turn this Representative Republic around, I am still on Team Trump in 2024.
Since the nation may need a different path to Conservative patriotism in the Executive, I am joining Team DeSantis.
Because I am entitled to take the government dole, the prevailing favoritism whenever possible, I will support any, and every Democrat candidate.
