"imagine if this happened to the leading opposition candidate in El Salvador"
President Nayib Bukele, the popular democratically elected President of El Salvador, a country once known as a banana republic, has blasted the indictment of President Trump, portraying it as a "banana republic" move in the US. "Imagine if this happened to the leading opposition candidate here in El Salvador" he declared.
President Bukele made a similar comment about the political raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago home.
