NC House passes bill to ban illegal alien sanctuary counties | Eastern North Carolina Now

Some Democrat sheriffs have been coddling illegal aliens who commit crimes in North Carolina by refusing to turn them over to federal immigration authorities for deportation.  That may be about to stop due to a bill, HB 10 recently passed by the NC House.  HB 10 requires all sheriffs in North Carolina to cooperate with federal immigration authorites on matters dealing with illegal aliens.

HB 10 passed the NC House 71 to 44, a veto proof majority, and now heads to the Senate, where it is expected to pass easily.  One Democrat, Rep. Michael Wray voted with all Republican, including newly switch Rep. Tricia Cotham, voted for the bill.

Democrat sheriffs in North Carolina who have made their counties sanctuary counties for illegal alien criminals include Wake, Mecklenburg, Durham, Buncombe, Orange, and Forsyth counties.

I was about to give up on the NC legislature with all the liberal stuff they have been focused on starting with the Medicaid giveaway expansion, but this is a solid piece of legislation to put a stop to wayward Democrat sheriffs pandering to criminal illegal aliens.

Now we need a crackdown on any type of public assistance / welfare given to illegal aliens. Perhaps requiring counties to reimburse any such payments at fice or ten times the amount paid out would do the trick.
