Governor Cooper Announces State Boards and Commissions Appointments | Eastern North Carolina Now

    RALEIGH: Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced appointments to boards and commissions.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individual to the North Carolina Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission:

  • Darren G. Jackson of Raleigh as a full-time member. Jackson was most recently a judge on the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Prior to his appointment to the Court of Appeals, Jackson was a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives for 12 years, serving as Minority Leader for his last two terms. During his time in the legislature, he served on the North Carolina Sentencing Commission and the North Carolina Courts Commission. Jackson practiced law at Gay, Jackson & McNally for 24 years.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individual to the Financial Literacy Council:

  • Sidney A. Thomas of Raleigh as a member responsible for programs related to financial education or services representing the North Carolina Office of the Commissioner of Banks. Thomas is an attorney in the Division of Legal Affairs for the Office of the Commissioner of Banks. Thomas was previously an Appeals Referee for the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individual to the North Carolina State Museum of Natural Sciences Advisory Commission:

  • Catherine C. Morris of Chapel Hill as a member at-large. Morris retired as the Director of Automotive Sales and Group Leader for ATI Industrial Automation in 2020 and started CCM Sales Consulting, LLC, where she helps start-up companies break into the automation space. Morris was previously the Chair of the Robotics Industries Association Board of Directors.

    Gov. Cooper has appointed the following individual to the Social Services Commission:

  • Ernestine T. Taylor of Greensboro as the 6th Congressional District Representative. Taylor worked more than 20 years at the executive level in human resources and organizational development with Fortune 500 companies such as Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, Avon Products, the Continental Can Company, and the Ford Foundation.
