Dorothy Magdalene Asby Pryor | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Dorothy Magdalene Asby Pryor, age 89, a resident of Chocowinity, NC died Thursday June 1, 2023, at ECU Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday June 5, 2023, at Providence Cemetery in Chocowinity officiated by Travis Boyd.

    Mrs. Pryor was born in Beaufort County on June 29, 1933, daughter of the late Harley M. Asby and the late Myrtle Winstead Asby. She was a 1951 graduate of Washington High School. On February 6, 1953, she married Edward Thomas "Tommy" Pryor who preceded her in death on May 22, 1993. Mrs. Pryor retired from Rufus Smith Food Pride in Chocowinity as a cashier after many dedicated years of service. Much of her spare time after working her job was dedicated to caring for her grandchildren. She also loved cooking and yard work. Mrs. Pryor was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church in Chocowinity.

    Survivors include her children: Susan Pryor of Chocowinity, Kenny Pryor of Chocowinity, and Lori P. Adams and her husband Howard of Chocowinity; grandchildren: Kendall Pryor and his wife Britney of Chocowinity, Dylan Campbell and Alyssa of Greenville, Corey Jones Sr. and his wife Misty of Aurora, and Austin Adams of Fort Barnwell; and great grandchildren; Tabitha Pryor, Corey Jones, Jr., and Shyanne Jones. Mrs. Pryor was predeceased, along with her parents, by a brother: Harley E. Asby; and two sisters: Ruth Alligood and Rosalee Harris.
