    Mrs. Jacklyn "Jackie" Pearl Jordan Sparrow, age 77, a resident of Belhaven, NC died Friday, June 2, 2023, at her home.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery officiated by Pastor Linda Rowe.

    The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at home.

    Mrs. Jackie was born in Beaufort County on September 21, 1945, daughter of the late Jack Walton Jordan, Sr., and the late Lillie Pearl Turner Jordan. She was a 1963 graduate of J. A Wilkinson High School. On October 21, 1965, she married Howell Swindell Sparrow, Jr. who survives. She received her LPN degree from Beaufort County Community College after her high school graduation. On May 13, 2003, she received her RN associate degree form BCCC as well. She worked at Kings Daughters in Virginia before returning to her native Belhaven where she worked at Pungo District Hospital for 46 years before retiring. In her spare time, she loved doing puzzles, reading, and cooking. Mrs. Jackie attended Bethany United Methodist Church.

    Surviving along with her husband Howell of the home are her children: Howell Swindell Sparrow, III (Tammy Chesson) of Belhaven, and Tracey Sparrow Council (Mike Patterson) of Plymouth; grandchildren: Jamie Council, Elizabeth (Beth) Hughes, Jeni Maldonado, Ethan Sparrow, Ashely Cartwright, Lucas Council, Wyatt Council, Seth Council, and Riley Patterson; great grandkids: Grady Bright, Jaxon Hughes, Natalie Maldonado, and Danilo Maldonado; a brother: Walton Jordan, Jr. (Peggy Jean) of Belhaven and a sister: Peggy Sue Wood (Paul) of Belhaven. As well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Flowers are welcome and appreciated and the family kindly ask for any memorial contributions be made to Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, c/o Patient Assistance Fund, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889.
