    Mrs. Christine Elizabeth Toler Stowe, age 81, a resident of 811 E. 8th St., Washington, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Oakdale Cemetery and will be conducted by Rev. Danny Allen.

    Mrs. Stowe was born in Beaufort County on May 14, 1931 to the late Fred Arthur Toler, Sr. and Elizabeth Caroline Wilkinson Toler. On June 13, 1949 she married Guy Beacher Stowe, Jr. who preceded her in death on December 17, 1975. She was a graduate of Washington High School, was employed with Payne & Watkins Insurance Co. for many years and retired as a Deputy Clerk of Court for Beaufort County. Mrs. Stowe was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served as Superintendent and was a Sunday School Teacher.

    Survivors include two sons, Guy Stowe and wife Carol Sue of Washington, Lentz Stowe and wife Tricia of Washington, two brothers, Fred Toler husband of the late Ann Harris Toler, of Washington, Steve Toler and wife Mary of Washington and four grandchildren, Blair Elizabeth Stowe, Gray Thomas Stowe, Hayley Beacher Stowe and Erin Cutler Stowe. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Ann Stowe and her sister, Ann Toler Stowe and late husband, Edward "Buddy" Stowe.

    The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, April 1, 2013 at the home of her son, Lentz Stowe, 304 Isabella Ave., Washington, NC 27889.

    In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, New Horizons, P.O. Box 715, 304 W. 2nd St., Washington, NC 27889 or to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, Patient Assistance Fund, 1209 Brown St., Washington, NC 27889.
