David was born in Beaufort County on December 6, 1963, son of the late David Bernard Davis, Jr., and Mary Sue Tuten Davis. He was a 1982 graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School. He worked as a paper machine operator for Weyerhaeuser, now Domtar, in Plymouth. He was an avid N.Y. Yankee fan who dearly loved baseball as well as watching NC State Basketball. He loved traditional country music, especially Alabama, and you could tell that by his beard and clothing. Concerts of country musicians were a treat for him, and he attended them as often as he could. Other things that he liked were traveling, history, collecting Charlie Brown and Peanuts memorabilia, and western movies. David was a lifelong member of Union Grove Church of Christ.

Surviving along with his mother: Sue of Pantego is his son: Matthew Davis of Grantsboro; sister: Lora D. Colbert and her husband Wayne of Pantego; his fiancée: Wanda Walker of Bath; a step-son: Jeremy Boothe; nieces and nephews: Chelsey Berry, Sydney Spencer, John Colbert, Jr., and Rachel Lilley; and numerous great nieces, nephews, and his beloved Pug Andy. David was predeceased by his father: David Jr., and sister: Donna Sue Davis.

Flowers are welcome and appreciated and the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army, 112 East 7th Street, Washington, NC 27889.
