Lorraine “Joyce” Andreoli Bell | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Lorraine "Joyce" Andreoli Bell, age 89, a resident of Washington, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023, at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

    No services will be held. Her family will have a private get together to celebrate her life.

    Mrs. Bell was born in Wake County, N.C. on February 14, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Guido Andreoli and Mildred A. Mason and stepfather, Ben Mason. Mrs. Bell earned an associate degree in nursing. She retired as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Bell was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she served on the Vestry and as Historian of the Eastern Diocese of the Episcopal Church. She donated her genealogical materials to Beaufort County Community College. As a result, BCCC established the Joyce Bell Genealogical Room. Mrs. Bell was a member of the N.C. Genealogical Society, Wilson Genealogical Society, and a charter member of the Beaufort County Genealogical Society.

    On February 14, 1952, she married Willie McMellon "Dutchie" Bell III, who preceded her in death, December 4, 1968.

    Mrs. Bell is survived by her children, David Guido Bell and wife, Gemma of Washington, James A. "Tony" Bell of Simpson, Ann Bell Gurganus and husband, Ray of Washington; stepdaughter, Sherry P. Rose and husband, Billy of Washington; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

    In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by a son, Willie M. Bell IV.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beaufort County Animal Shelter, 3931 US-264, Washington, N.C. 27889 or a charity of one's choice.
