    Mr. William Avery Jr., age 77, a resident of 86 Wiggins Avenue, N.C. Highway 102 West, Chocowinity, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Latham Cemetery in Pinetown, officiated by Pastor Jerry Smith. Brian Avery, Billy Joe Avery, Randy Avery, Timmy Avery, William Avery and Michael Doiel will serve as pallbearers. David Avery, Phillip Alligood and Tommy Rowe will serve as honorary pallbearers.

    Mr. Avery was born in Craven County on Nov. 1, 1935, to the late William Avery Sr. and Ora Dell Avery who survives. On Dec. 6, 2001, he married Doris Latham who survives. He loved fishing and was a member of Gorham Swamp Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

    Survivors include his mother Ora Dell Avery, his wife, Doris L. Avery, one son, Joe Sullivan and wife Becky, four daughters, Wanda Sanders and husband Johnny, Sandra Chance and husband James, Belinda Mallard and husband Willard, Rebecca Avery Blackmon, two step daughters, Tammy Alligood and husband Kelly, Debra Watson and husband David, two step sons, Jeffery Spain and wife Virginia, Ricky Spain and wife Debbie, two brothers, Billy M. Avery and wife Jane, Louis L. Avery and wife Jean, two sisters, Dallas Faye Manning and husband Daniel, Patsy Avery Doiel, eleven grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Elizabeth Avery and one brother in law, Richard Doiel.

    The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of Tammy Alligood, 1826 N.C. Highway 102 West, Chocowinity.

    Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the William Avery Jr. Memorial Fund, 900 John Small Avenue, Washington, NC 27889.
