FBLA Success | Eastern North Carolina Now

News Release:

Members of Northside High School's FBLA chapter attended the 59th State Leadership Conference in Greensboro, North Carolina. More than 1,500 high school and middle school students were in attendance. Students participated in leadership workshops and competed with others from across the state for recognition in various business and technology events. Northside student members were very successful.

Savannah Bunn placed 1st in the state in Business Communication, Trenton Clayton and Kelsey Lang earned a 2nd place in Desktop Publishing, and Katlyn Caton was 3rd in Intro to Parliamentary Procedures. These four students will travel to Anaheim to represent NC and NHS at the National Leadership Conference.

Two other students placed in the top 10 of their events: Sarah Lee, FBLA Principles and Procedures, and Jethzabel Alonso, Intro to Business Communication. In addition to being a state winner, Savannah Bunn was also recognized as a top 10 scorer in the open event of Multimedia and Webpage Design. Open events allow all students at the conference to take an exam without pre-qualification. NHS students who earned proficiency (80% or higher) in the MaWD open test were Judith Cota, Melissa Burgos, Emily Waters, Jethzabel Alonso, and Katlyn Caton. NHS FBLA advisers are Jennifer Bunn and Rhonda Suggs. Northside High was recognized as the largest chapter in the Eastern region of the state.
