Law enforcement officials in the state of Nevada thwarted an Islamic terrorist attack late last week involving a teenager who said he was targeting "zionists."

The foiled attack comes amid a spike in anti-Semitic attacks across the U.S. and the rest of the world following Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel on October 7.

The 16-year-old said "he was planning an attack in Las Vegas in furtherance to support the Islamic State terrorist organization, also known as ISIS," the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said. "LVMPD SWAT served the warrant, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident."

During the search of the suspect's home, police recovered "numerous items of concern to include terrorism propaganda and indications that the suspect intended to commit an act of terrorism, including instructions and components for building an explosive device."

The suspect, who was not named due to his age, was charged on multiple felony counts, including: Terroristic Threats; Attempt to Further an Act of Terrorism; Providing Material Support to a Terrorist, Terrorist Organization, and/or Act of Terrorism; and five counts of Possession of Explosive Components.

During a press conference, officials showed a screenshot of the threat that the suspect posted to social media: "Peace be upon all brothers who see this. I am here to announce that I will be starting lone wolf operations in Las Vegas against the enemies of Allah. I ask you to make Dua for victory. I am a supporter of the Islamic State, and I will make sure the zionists in this city know it."

Police found an ISIS flag, ISIS patches, and an ISIS headband at the residence, as well as ISIS and Al-Qaeda propaganda. The suspect was described as a recent convert to Islam.
