    Samuel Shelton Williams, age 81, a resident of Belhaven, NC died Sunday January 7, 2024 at his home.

    A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday January 11, 2024, at Trinity Methodist Church in Belhaven and will be officiated by Cris Noble.

    Shelton was born on January 6, 1943, to the late Oscar Shelton Williams and Mildred Evans Williams. On October 14, 1967, he married Wanda Love Edwards who survives. He attended Louisburg College and East Carolina University for Commercial Arts before being drafted into the United States Army during Vietnam. Shelton enjoyed building hot rods, going to car shows while showing his artful masterpieces, and many types of racing, particularly drag racing! He was a member of the Roaring 30's Street Rod Club and Trinity Methodist Church where he served in the choir. He retired from Belhaven Fire Department after 21 years, he also served as a Postal Carrier for 30 years.

    Survivors include his wife, Wanda Edwards Williams of the home, a son, Samuel Anthony "Tony" Williams and wife Lisa of Belhaven, a daughter, Sabra Askew of Greenville, three grandchildren, Shaye Kalmowitz (Todd), Drew Williams, Grayson Askew, three step grandchildren, Emily Armstrong, Austin Armstrong (Jordan), Joshua Spruill, Jr., three great grandchildren, Marshall, Mitchell, Madison, four step great grandchildren, Haylee, Lillie, Allie, Maxwell, a brother-in-law, David Lassiter, Tony Nixon (Tony 2), Jolly Slade, his beloved sidekick, Abigail and several nieces and nephews and many friends.

    He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Ruth Lassiter, Gayle Stancil and one niece, Lynn Blowe.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday January 10, 2024, at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at the home.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Belhaven Fire Department, Trinity Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.

    Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven is honored to serve the Williams family.
