Raby Carol Grimes | Eastern NC Now

    Raby Carol Grimes, age 75, a resident of Greenville, NC died Wednesday March 6, 2024 at Universal Health Care in Greenville, NC.

    A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Sunday March 10, 2024 at Oakdale Cemetery, and will be officiated by Sarge Woolard. Honorary pallbearers will include Ben Litsinburger, Andy Montoya, David Dew, Kevin Pollard, Eric Pollard and Jaan Geiger.

    Carol was born in Beaufort County on June 14, 1948 to the late Raby Jones Grimes and the late Edna Latham Grimes. She attended Washington City Schools and the Beaufort County Disability Center. Carol was a descendant of Mary Chilton who came on the Mayflower, which her mother spent many years proving. Carol had many special friends and family she loved, especially her daughter Melissa who was the joy of her life. In her earlier years when she attended BCDC, she enjoyed meeting many friends, making crafts and learning many skills that helped her throughout her life. She also enjoyed music, dancing to Elvis songs and singing.

    Survivors include her daughter Melissa Woolard Lopez of Greenville, one grandchild, Sahkeem Collins and wife Idis, two great grandchildren, Kylie, Landon, three sisters, Nancy G. Smith of Hickory, Donna G. Pollard and husband Eric of Fort Mill, SC, Lisa G. Moore of Greenville, two brothers, John Grimes of Washington, and Carol Evans of Blounts Creek.

    Family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
