    Pat “Annette” Garris, age 71, a resident of 559 Swan Point Road, Washington, NC entered into eternal peace on June 27, 2013.

    A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday June 30, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Rev. Doug Spivey. Pat will be laid to rest in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be David Townsend, Ray Garris, B.J. Holland, Trevor Edwards, Joel Edwards, Landon Temple, Bobbi Lou Ward, Wendy Todd, Misty Boyd and Tabitha Ward. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday June 29, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

    Pat was born in Pitt County on July 11, 1941 daughter of the late Joseph S. Edwards and is survived by her mother, Lillian Houston Edwards of Washington. She is also survived by her husband, Bonner L. Garris whom she married on October 8, 1960. She worked at National Spinning, Inc. for thirty years. Pat was a professional carpet cleaner for nine years and along with her husband they ran a concession business for eight years. She was a devout Christian and an avid reader who enjoyed spending time with her family. She and her husband Bonner enjoyed traveling and fishing. Pat had a heart of gold and saw the good in everyone regardless of their faults. She loved everyone genuinely and would drop everything to help someone in need.

    Surviving along with her husband Bonner of the home and her mother Lillian of Washington are her children: Jamie Garris and wife Robin of Washington, Veronica Leigh Johnson and husband Artie of Aulander and Rhonda Thomas of Jacksonville; grandchildren: Brandi Smith and husband Tim of Oklahoma City, OK, Brandan “B.J.” Garris of Washington, Anthony and Caleb Johnson of Aulander and Austin and Abby Thomas of Jacksonville and great grandchildren: Brandan James Garris, Jr. of Yonkers, NY and Trey Smith of Oklahoma City, OK and brothers: James Edwards and wife Carol, Bobby Edwards, Donald Edwards and wife Cheryl and Jerry Edwards and wife Kay. Pat was predeceased by a brother: Billy Edwards.
