    Ralph Raymond Rumer, Jr., age 92 a resident of Core Point, died Thursday May 30, 2024, at his home.

    A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Core Point FWB Chapel with Dr. Neal Cox and Pastor Will Thomas officiating.

    The family will receive friends Sunday evening, June 2, 2024, from 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 John Small Ave., Washington, NC.

    Ralph was born on June 22, 1931, in Cape May County, Ocean City, NJ, to the late Ralph Raymond Rumer, Sr. and Anna Hibbard Rumer. He was a US Army veteran and earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Duke University, master's degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey, and his Doctor of Science Engineering Degree from MIT. Ralph was a professor of civil engineering. He was a member of Core Point Chapel, a Bible study leader, deacon, and substitute Sunday school teacher. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter Sherri Rumer Cooper and his first wife, Shirley Louise Haynes.

    Survivors include his wife, Sallie Wallace Rumer; his sister, Nancy Beaudry of Ft. Worth TX; daughters, Sandra Fiegl (Mark) of East Amherst, NY, Sue O'Donnell of Bloomsburg, PA, Sarah Brodeur (Dan) of Sugarloaf, PA, Salena Mulliken (Jeff), Shanna Corley (Jason) of New Bern, NC; son, Dr. Matthew Justice Kornegay, Jr., (Jamie) of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Austin Brodeur (Ewelina), Andrew Brodeur, Angi Cooper, Zia Cooper, Hannah Whitesides (Nick), Joshua Mulliken, Carey Corley, Sidney Corley, Justice Corley, Micah Kornegay, Josiah Kornegay, Isaac Kornegay, Abigail Kornegay; great grandchildren, Jacob Brodeur, Joseph Brodeur and Jonathan Brodeur.
