    Martha Steadman Simpson, 59, of 1051 Creek Drive, Washington, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

    A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Biggs Chapel, Williamston, with the Rev. Mark Wilmoth officiating. Visitation is from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the home.

    Mrs. Simpson, born May 20, 1954, in Martin County, was a social worker at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington. She was the daughter of the late Preston and Nellie Snow Steadman. She was a member of Macedonia Christian Church. She was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College and a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. On Jan. 10, 1986, she married Darrell Simpson, who survives.

    Other survivors include two sons, Joe Simpson of Florida and Judson Simpston of Elizabeth City, and a sister, Judy Steadman of Stony Creek, Va.
