Mr. Herbert Dorman Powell | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Herbert Dorman Powell, 63, of Greenville, died Sunday, July 14, 2013.

    A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Oakmont Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at a homecoming celebration at the church following the service.

    Mr. Powell, a native of Roxboro, NC, had been a resident of Greenville for the past 50 years and attended Winterville High School. He was employed with Hastings Ford for 45 years in several different capacities and had earned a number of accreditations from the Ford Motor Company. He was a member of Oakmont Baptist Church.

    He was an avid boating enthusiast. Mr. Powell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ora McCullough Powell.

    He is survived by his wife, Dr. Mollie Frances Powell; daughters, Lori Powell of Los Angeles, CA and Heather Powell Duskey of Wilmington, NC; step-children, Jamie Tripp and Brylie Tripp both of Greenville; a granddaughter, Ava Lillian Duskey; grandson, Lucas Medlin; sisters, Linda P. Mangum of Rougemont, NC, Becky P. Morse of Washington, NC and Sheena D. Powell, Billie P. Woolard and Robin P. Braxton all of Winterville, NC; half-brothers, Bill Powell of Sutherland, VA and Tootsie McCullough of Hurdle Mills, NC; and a half-sister, Brenda P. Jones of Vernon Hill, VA.

    In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The ALS Association, Jim "Catfish" Hunter Chapter, 120-101 Penmarc Drive, Raleigh, NC 27603.
