    Mr. Russell Gene McNall, age 68, a resident of 8288 Hwy. 99 North, Pantego died Wednesday evening July 17, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center.

    A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM on Saturday July 20, 2013 at Plymouth Church of Christ officiated by Bob Moulden. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. Charlie Davis, Edward Dunbar, Doc Webster, John Sawyer, Eric Sawyer and Trey Williams will serve as pallbearers.

    Mr. McNall was born in Pasquotank County on December 7, 1944, son of the late Russell Roland McNall and Ethel Sawyer McNall. He attended Plymouth High School. On July 5, 1997, he married the former Effie Cooper who survives. Mr. McNall worked as a painting contractor before his retirement. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed mowing the lawn. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, which he kept the last several years.

    In addition to his wife, Effie, of the home, he is survived by his son: Rodney Gene McNall of Charlotte; his stepdaughter: Jennifer Lee Tuten of Pantego; his granddaughter: Lilley Grace Tuten; special nieces: Peggy Westberg of Plymouth and Nancy Lassiter of Aulander, NC. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by special sister: Inez Marriner who preceded him in death one year ago on the date of his death.

    The family will receive friends 1:30 PM until the funeral hour at Plymouth Church of Christ.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to an education fund established for his granddaughter: Lilley Grace Tuten, c/o Southern Bank, Plymouth, NC 27962.
